1. Agreement
By accessing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

We may update these Terms. Material changes will be indicated by updating the “Last updated” date. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
2. The Service
RixCaps is a browser-based captioning tool that lets you upload video, transcribe speech (typically on-device), style captions with templates, and export captioned video.
By default, video files and local transcription processing remain on your device. Optional cloud features (such as project metadata sync or paid clean export billing) use our servers as described in the Privacy Policy.
We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, perfect transcription accuracy, or fitness for any particular purpose. Always review captions before publishing.
3. Accounts
You may use limited features as a guest. Account registration (email/password or Google Sign-In) is required for credits, paid exports without watermark, and optional cloud metadata.
You are responsible for safeguarding credentials and for activity under your account. Notify us promptly of unauthorized use at support@rixcaps.com.
You must be at least 16 years old (or the age of digital consent in your jurisdiction) to create an account.
4. Credits, pricing, and payments
Local transcription and watermarked export may be free. Clean (no-watermark) export and certain optional features consume credits according to the pricing shown in the app.
Payments for credit packs may be processed by PayPal and WeChat Pay. We do not store full payment card numbers on our servers; payment processors handle card or wallet data under their own terms.
Prices may be shown in USD (e.g. PayPal) or CNY (e.g. WeChat Pay) depending on the method. Taxes may apply as required by law.
Credits are a prepaid license to use paid Service features; they are not cash, legal tender, or a stored-value account under banking law, except as mandatory consumer law requires otherwise.
5. Acceptable use
You may not use the Service to: violate law; infringe intellectual property or privacy rights; upload malware; attempt unauthorized access; abuse rate limits; reverse engineer except as allowed by law; or process content you do not have rights to process.
You retain rights to your videos and captions. You grant us a limited license to process content solely to provide the Service features you request (e.g. billing metadata, optional cloud metadata sync).
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or create payment, security, or legal risk.
6. Intellectual property
RixCaps branding, UI, and software (excluding open-source components under their licenses and your content) are owned by us or our licensors.
Caption templates and engine components may include third-party open-source software. Their licenses continue to apply.
7. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT, TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.
We are not liable for losses from inaccurate captions, export failures on unsupported browsers, or third-party payment outages.
8. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY ARISING OUT OF THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID US FOR CREDITS IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM, OR (B) USD $50.
We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or lost profits, even if advised of the possibility.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those cases our liability is limited to the fullest extent permitted.
9. Indemnity
You will defend and indemnify us against claims arising from your content, your use of the Service, or your violation of these Terms or third-party rights, except to the extent caused by our willful misconduct.
10. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States of America, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
Except where prohibited, disputes shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in the United States of America. You consent to personal jurisdiction there.
Consumers in the EU/UK may have mandatory rights that cannot be waived; nothing here limits non-waivable consumer protections.
